THE 37TH ANNUAL MISS. PICNIC HAS BEEN CANCELLED.
THE PICNIC, WHICH IS USUALLY HELD IN NEWYORK, WAS CANCELLED DUE TO GOVERNOR PHIL BRYANT’S SIGNING OF HOUSE BILL 1523 INTO LAW.
THE NEW YORK MISSISSIPPI SOCIETY IS THE FORCE THAT SAID THE PICNIC WOULD NOT CONTINNUE.
GOV. BRYANT RELEASED A STATEMENT SAYING THE DECISION OF THE PANEL WAS DISAPPOINT BUT HE WOULD BE WILLING TO ATTEND ANY EVENT BROUGHT ALONG TO REPLACE THE PICNIC.
HOUSE BILL 1523 IS THE PROTECTING FREEDOM OF CONSCIENCE OF THE GOVERNMENT ACT.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR FORMER WLBT-TV ANCHOR CORRICE COLLINS ARE SET FOR SATURDAY.

COLLIS WAS HONORED IN 2012 FOR BREAKING THE COLOR BARRIER IN THE STATE.
